Black vertical band in front of white tail.

Size : 11 cm

Habitat : In coral-rich, clear lagoons and outer reefs, 1-12 m. Rests usually close to branch coral (e.g. Acropora and Pocillopora). Territorial. Grazes on blanket-weed algae, also feeds on small invertebrates and occasionally small fish.

Distribution : East Africa to SW Japan, Line Islands and French Polynesia.
