Album 2 Pacific Islands, 1923 (Tanager Expedition), volume 3 documents Alexander Wetmore's participation in the Tanager Expedition, 1923, while working for the U.S. Department Agriculture (USDA), Bureau of Biological Survey. The expedition was conducted with the cooperation of the U.S. Navy, Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum, and USDA. Photographs include numbers, date, and caption with description and location. The majority of subject matter documents specimens and observed wildlife including birds (individual and groups), their young, nests, and environs; examples of Frigate birds with distended throat sacs; turtles; and monk seals. The are some candid images of expedition participants. Sites include Nihoa, French Frigate Schoals, Laysan Island, Johnston Island, and Lisianski Island.
