Toxascaris leonina - anterior region

Group: Non-bursate, non-migratory, ascarid nematode
Host species: Felines and canines
Features:
  •  Stout white worms found in the intestine or passed in faeces
  • Three-lipped mouth, characteristic of ascarids
  • Long cervical alae giving the worm a lance-like (lanceolate) appearance
  • Needs to be distinguished from Toxocara canis in canines and Toxocara cati in felines
