I've done PPS and EI in the past in freshwater, but I decided to just go for it this time around and feel out my tank. Knowing how your tank responds to different deficiencies is a big part. For example, if I let my nitrates go away completely, then I start getting a bit of cotton candy-type algae outbreak. If I let everything get out of balance, I get a lot of green spot algae on the glass. Iron too low, green macro growth is weak, yellow/translucent. If my levels are too high, inverts give telltale signs. If everything's perfect, I get little/no microalgae growth, glass stays cleans over the week, and inverts are happy. I couldn't tell you signs of over/under dosing iodide or trace. I just dose them to hopefully keep them from being limiting factors, and occasionally stop dosing them for a few days to let any excess hopefully get consumed since I can't test for them.

Got my orders in! Just threw them in the tank to settle and took a couple shots, will scape this weekend. They look good!
I also ordered a couple or porcelain crabs. They shipped five, one died and the rest came through okay. Even got a little baby! I hope the wrasses don't get him... Too little too late but I should have put him in the sump

Hey guys, sorry about the silence! I broke down the tank a few months ago so I could focus on other things for a while. Hopefully I gave a little jumpstart to the local macro scene though! Should be able to find most of my stuff floating around on SDReefs I hope!

My reef is infested with this horrid Mermaid's cup. I can't get rid of it to save my life. Help!
