Gardenia thunbergia, also known as Starry Gardenia, Thunbergs Gardenia, and White Gardenia. This shrub like to live in sun to partial shade where it can get up to about 20 feet tall. The white, cream, and tan blossoms are very fragrant and on display from early spring through the middle of the summer. They are great when they are used as a cut flower. This shrub can be grown into an impressive tall hedge or as an ornamental specimen plant. It is a larvae host for the bee hawk moth, and a favoured sap tree for Carlisis wahlberg. In New Zealand, the Karanga use this shrub for repelling witchcraft, and as traditional medicine.
