What rare angel is the least owned? - Page 14

If anyone is looking for an eating Bandit Angel, they have one at a lfs, The Fish Gallery, in Dallas, TX. I was in there and saw it for myself. It ate flake and frozen mysis. It is about 5" in length and very stocky through the midsection. They do have a $600 price tag on it. I was half way home before it ocurred to me that I should have taken a video and pics with my cell phone. If it is there next week when I visit again I will do so.

I did come home with a Mystery Wrasse for $95 and 3 King Damsels.

Yea that's a nice one. I caught it at a depth of about 140' and it decompressed very well.

I also sent them some other pretty nice stuff in that shipment like a gold flake angel (about 2 1/2 - 3 in"), a dwarf eel, and a real nice golden puffer.

How rare are chaetodontoplus vanderloosi?

I picked one up today labeled as a poma, but it is looks exactly like ones in Scott Michaels book except that the tail has more yellow and less black in the middle. I can't find much more info than what is in Scott Michaels book.

Thanks. The picture link doesn't work anymore. Only two pics I have seen are in Scott's book. Only just around the face is grey. Everything else is black, except the tail is VERY bright yellow. It's about 4 1/2" long.

that is an awesome find, hope everythign works out this the ich. I have been talking to a LFS by me to get the various "poma" varieties. I like the vanderloosi and the diminitus(sp) which has alot of grey on the uuper portion of the body.

Can't wait to see the pic's.

OK. This is a relly bad pic. from when I was acclimating him. I'm still almost certain it is a vanderloosi, but if anyone sees something I don't let me know. Once he's settled in I'll try for better pictures.

He's doing pretty good. I did cure him of the ich with Cupramine. Not a great eater, but ok. I have to do multiple feedings with him.

No, I've been so busy. My wife had a scheduled c-section on Friday so I've been so busy with work, child and wife.

LA,

Congrats on the little one, I mean the baby!!

The vanderlloosi isn't suppose to have a solid yellow tail, only the margins of the dorsal, caudal, and anal fin are suppose to have yellow on them.

If it was me I would say it is a vanderloosi since the whole blue spot/poma/yellow faced, etc grouping is not well defined.

Congrats on the new addition to the family.

Looking at your pic and the Angelfishes and Butterflyfishes by Scott Michael, I too think it is either a hybrid or another Chaetodontoplus. If you look at page 258, it could also pass as a Chaetodontoplus cephalareticulatus, Maze Angelfish. The grayish dull coloring around the head is not as spreaded as the pictured fish though.

They are supposed to let me know when the collector sees anymore like this. I read somewhere that it may have a yellow tail with some black in the middle. But like RA said that whole group has to be more defined.

Not the greatest shot, but didn't have much time. The spots/smudges are on the glass, not the fish.

I bet nobody in the world has a centropyge cebu, centropyge nox or a chaetodontoplus ballinae. There are rarer angels than are in this post.

Just incase it hasn't been mentioned; The poll results here are totally skewed because people, understandbly so, have been answering the question in the title of the thread and not the question of the poll itself, which is an entirely different question.

Another angel we should add is the Centropyge resplendens and Centropyge fisheri hybrid. I'm sure few people have them.

Here is my pair, it is the "hardest to find angel I own"

C.nox is one of the cheapest angels you can get out of the Phillipines, very nice though.
C.cebu is new to me, I never heard of this species and dont think it's a valid one.
C.ballinae is hard to get, I never saw even one piece.

hceiv, C.resplendens x fisheri is not a new species, like you just said it is a hybrid.

Centropyge narcosis is really rare, but not nox.
