General Information

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: RANGE incl. Solomons - Samoa - ?Cooks, Hawai‘i

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; Land

KEY FEATURES: Two species, maybe more, of small crickets, to 5mmBL, with short and long-winged forms. SHORT-WINGED have hardened forewings only, ~cover abdomen. LONG-WINGED have similar hardened forewings; and hindwings long, protruding and membranous. One of our speices is probably Metioche vittaticollis (Stål), which has a wide range, including Solomons - Samoa - ?Cooks, and Hawai‘i. Metioche flavipes is known from Niue and Marquesas, and there are various other South Pacific species.
