GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE Caribbean

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Introduced - Recent, Not naturalised; Land, lowlands, Gardens

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: Ornamental flowers

KEY FEATURES: Tree to 15m. LEAVES opposite, compound, digitate; LEAFLETS 3-5, oval, to 15cm, leathery, tip round, base often asymmetrical. FLOWERS funnel-like; throat yellow fading white; face with 5 lobes, lilac to pinkish to whitish, 6cmØ. FRUIT slender cylinder to 20cm. SEEDS winged.

SIMILAR SPECIES: Rosy Trumpet-tree (Tabebuia rosea) has leaflets larger, to 30cm long (vs. to 15cm); and tip sharp (vs. rounded).
