COMMON NAMES: Yellowtail False Fusilier, Southern Fusilier, Yellowtail Fusilier, Yellowtail Blue Snapper; French Vivanette Queue Jaune

TRADITIONAL NAMES: Palu Mūmū Tāne (PK)

GLOBAL DISTRIBUTION: NATIVE e.Africa - Samoa - Cooks; n. to s.Japan; s. to Kermadec

COOK ISLANDS STATUS: Native; Marine, near-shore, deepbottom (usually 100m+)

SIGNIFICANCE LIST: Food fish

KEY FEATURES: To 40cm. Oval. Dark blue above, pale blue below with broad yellow stripe on upper body starting below Dorsal Fin origin & covering tail-base & tail; all other fins blue.
