TAXONOMY: ANIMALIA; CHORDATA; GNATHOSTOMATA (Jawed Vertebrates); PISCES; OSTEICHTHYES; Tetraodontiformes; Tetraodontoidei; Balistoidea; MONACANTHIDAE. COMMENT: Replaced by $Cantherhines sandwichiensis@ in Hawaii.

Vouchers:
Rarotonga: absent - Randall 2005 confirmed that earlier Rarotonga records of Cantherhines pardalis were in fact Cantherhines sandwichensis; absent, 2001/10, M.Francis failed to find any Cantherhines pardalis. Pukapuka: informant reports at NBSAP meeting, 2/2004. Suwarrow: fieldspecimen+photo, 2004, Vince Kerr with ID as Cantherhines paradalis;
